The Maternity Seat Belt is a seat belt repositioning device specifically designed to encourage seat belt usage while providing you with the necessary comfort and protection in an automobile.

Our team of experts have discovered that during pregnancy wearing a seat belt is both uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. For safety reasons, the lap portion of the vehicle's seat belt should be worn low, across the hips and over the upper thighs. However, the seat belt naturally rises onto the abdomen creating the danger to the fetus. During an impact the lap portion of the vehicle's seat belt could be forced up onto the abdomen and may cause harm to both yourself and your unborn baby.

Installation

First divide the Maternity Seat Belt into two parts. Part 1 is the harness and Part 2 is the sleeve.

Step 1: Attach the harness around the back of the seat (driver or passenger side) by clipping the two ends together, and pulling the strap to tighten the harness so it does not move. The Maternity Seat Belt should firmly hug the seat with the elastic straps flat on the seat. (Shown in Figure 1.)

 

Step 2: Place the vehicle's lap belt inside the sleeve so that it lies flat. (Shown in Figure 2-2.) Wrap the sleeve around the lap portion of the seat belt by folding the bottom portion upward and the top portion downward slipping the clips through the provided holes and securing the velcro. The Maternity Seat Belt logo should be facing forward at this point. The sleeve should be loose to allow it to be moved back and forth on the lap belt to adjust to your comfort.

 

 

Step 3: Once the harness and the sleeve are in place, you may now sit in the seat and buckle up. First buckle the vehicle's seat belt. Next, fasten the clips from the sleeve into the clips from the harness. (Shown in Figure 3-1 & 3-2).
